Winner of 2009 Prize Announced
This year's prize was awarded at Foresight 2010: the Synergy of Molecular Manufacturing and AGI, January 16-17, 2010, Palo Alto, California. The 2009 Communication prizewinner was the Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence. Accepting the award on behalf of SIAI was Michael Anissimov. Video of Prize presentation
The 2009 Communication Prize was awarded to SIAI for their work, including hosting the Singularity Summit series of conferences, in exploring the rising impact of science and technology on society. In particular, SIAI focuses on the urgent challenges, both opportunities and risks, that will arise from the technological creation of smarter-than-human intelligence.

About the Prize
This award recognizes outstanding journalistic or other communication endeavors that lead to a better public understanding of molecular nanotechnology or other key emerging technologies of high social or environmental impact.
By offering this Prize, Foresight hopes to encourage continued responsible coverage of molecular nanotechnology and other emerging technologies as a means for engaging the public in dialogue leading to improved public policy on these important issues.
