Judy Conner &ndash Director of Communications — 2002–2007
Judy Conner has been Director of Communications for the Foresight Nanotech Institute since 2002, where she is responsible for all aspects of communications, including developing and implementing communications plans, public relations, web development, and media. She brings to Foresight more than 15 years in public relations and communications experience.
Prior to joining Foresight, Ms. Conner was Public Relations Manager at ecFood from 2000-2001, where she managed media relations, media buying, web site and conferences and events management. She also served as Marketing Coordinator for Anderson Brule Architects from 1998-2000, where she was responsible for writing proposals and preparing presentations for clients, as well as working with internal staff on effective presentations.
From 1995-1998, Ms. Conner was Public Relations Manager for Pacific Data Images, which was acquired during this time by DreamWorks. In this role, she was responsible for directing media relations and buying, managing the speakers bureau and technical conferences, licensing imaging and animated shorts, and obtaining clearance for publicity from commercial and feature film clients. She also coordinated stories and interviews timed to coincide with the release of the feature film Antz.
As Film and Video Manager for the San Jose Film and Video Commission from 1991-1995, Ms. Conner promoted San Jose as a location for films and commercials, researching locations and coordinating site access. She also managed community outreach and public relations to address public concerns related to on-site shooting. She produced the Joey Awards, a prestigious annual black tie gala. In addition, she produced and sold advertising in FilmClips, the Commission’s be-monthly newsletter.
Ms. Conner earned a BA in Public Relations from San Jose State University.
In addition to her professional activities, Ms. Conner is an ongoing volunteer publicist for Bark in the Park, which benefits the Silicon Valley Humane Society.
