Foresight Institute Distinguished Student Award Instructions

Nominations
Deadline for submitting 2007 nominations was: August 22, 2007.
Nominations must have a summary with the nominee's address, telephone, and (if possible) fax and email address.
The nomination should describe the work for which the student is being nominated.
All submittals will be done through the web should be in the form of ASCII text, a Microsoft Word document, PDF, or preferably a URL to a Web page.
He or she must be a full-time student at the time of the presentation.
The 2008 Distinguished Student Award application will be located here.
Supporting documents for all applications must be submitted in one of two ways:
- A URL pointing at the full document, no fee required, entered into the "Relevant publications:" field
- An email attachment of the full document emailed to foresight@foresight.org, with nominee's name included
Relevant Research Areas
Research areas considered relevant to molecular nanotechnology and molecular manufacturing include but are not limited to:
- Bimolecular machinery
- Computational chemistry
- supramolecular chemistry
- mechanosynthesis
- molecular machines
- scanning probes
- nanomaterials
- self-assembly
Special consideration will be given to submissions clearly leading toward the construction of a general-purpose molecular assembler. Applicants wishing further information on the field of the prize are referred to the book Nanosystems: Molecular Machinery, Manufacturing, and Computation (Wiley Interscience, 1992).
Award
The prizewinner will receive $1,000.00 plus a physical award.
The prizewinner must accept in person at the award ceremony. The prizewinner will receive complimentary full registration including reception, coach airfare and up to 2 nights hotel (arranged by Foresight Institute, Sat. night stay may be required), and the physical award.
